i’m so over-the-moon excited to be blogging this session. i’ve been looking forward to it for so long, long before little max was even on his way. claire and i discussed maternity photography during her “trash the dress” session well over a year ago. since that conversation i’ve been anticipating this session with, well, maybe too much excitement. as i’ve worked through these edits tonight (actually it’s 4:45am but i haven’t slept yet, so i’ll go with “tonight”), i’ve gone from rather loudly vocalizing my giddy excitement to wiping away streams of tears. not tears of sadness of course, but rather sentimentality. knowing so well what claire’s sweet round belly holds, all the hope, all the joy, all the trials, the giggles, smiles, tears and infinitely so much more, just makes me so warm and fuzzy and gooey that the tears are impossibly persistent. i feel so honored to have been able to document such a truly precious and fleeting time in claire, jordan and baby max’s life.
this image, to me, is nothing short of glorious. i’m so in love with it. so in love. it’s so quiet, so peaceful and real. tears…right now, seriously. i say it all the time, sentimentality drives this passion of mine.
again, the blubbery sentimentality is in full force with this series of images. i actually had a hard time not tearing up in front of claire and jordan just talking about how much i love “Where The Wild Things Are”. i was trying to tell jordan about how it’s only one of two books i even remember ever reading as a child, about how because i’m a total book-nerd, reading and loving books has been one of the most important things i’ve instilled in my children, and how they’re all so well-versed on this very book and out of our entire library of children’s books, this book is the one i treasure the most…but, instead i had to bite my lip to keep from sobbing all over my camera. if you take a look at jordan’s arm you’ll notice his amazing tattoo depicting all the wild things and their wild rumpus, i adore the fact that someone else love’s this story as much as i do. when i found out that max was on his way, these shots immediately came to mind, i’ve been waiting so anxiously to finally shoot them.

this is another one that i’m so in love with. again, it’s just so true.
so maybe jenny mcCarthy isn’t exactly “classic” literature but when you need to get your laugh on, she’s the perfect girl for that.
claire has absolutely, hands down, no doubt, the best laughing smile i’ve ever witnessed.

waiting.

i think she may burst at he seams with anticipation.
love her expression, love the glowing, hazy sun. love it all.
to sum it up, claire and jordan, thank you for the honor, i’m so eager to meet your precious boy.
i wanted to add, that while we did capture some truly stunning shots of claire’s bare belly, she wanted some of the session to be reserved for just her and her family, however, if there are any moms-to-be considering a maternity session, she has no problem with the images being viewed in that context. so, some of those will be available for viewing in my maternity portfolio.
