come out and play!

or swim or take a bath, because when you’re two…it’s pretty much the same thing. my natty-cat was a dirty little girly, covered in the chocolaty goodness that was her “cake in a cup” (not to be confused with a cupcake…take a peek here to see what i’m talking about). since it happens to be summertime and she happens to be two years old, what better way to get cleaned up than a bubble bath outside in your blow-up pool? i sure couldn’t think of any!

casting call

that’s right!  i’m looking for some “models” for specific shots I need to complete a new portfolio. the models needed for this casting call are as follows: newborns no more than 3 weeks old (10 days or less is preferable), pregnant mommies-to-be (yep, it’s ok if the newborns come from these mommies), at least one pregnant mommy-to-be with prominent tattoo/tattoos.

i’m also looking for models for a brand-new style of session that i’m going to be offering very soon…something I am so excited about. these sessions will focus on capturing your child/children doing exactly what they do best…playing. the models i need for these shoots are 2-4 children or sibling groups in a variety of ages that are willing to do some fun stuff and be photographed while doing it.

Details on the Casting Call sessions:

1) the session will be free of charge. prints will be available to purchase at regular rates.

2) image(s) will be used for my portfolio/advertising/marketing purposes.

3) the session will focus on capturing a specific shot(s).

Hi Misty, How old do the children need to be? I have Makenna and Blu or my grandkids are anywhere from ...

happy friday!

here’s wishing everyone a happy friday! i hope it’s full of bright and colorful fun times.
my husband really helped me to put this into perspective recently, when he reminded me that we have roughly 200 friday nights left with our oldest. well, until he turns 16 that is. since we all know that once a kid gets wheels…hanging with mom, dad and the rest of the fam is so much less cool than when you really have no other choice. of course, i hope with all my heart that he’ll still think we’re cool enough to hang out with from time to time…but, either way with that thought in mind, i hope i can put it all in perspective and try harder to enjoy our friday nights together before he’s off and running.
and seriously, i couldn’t help but throw in one more of this sunshiny kid. gabe and sunshine just go together.

stirred, inspired, moved…

…stricken by inspiration. some moments, it just comes. i was walking through the doorway and into the early evening sunlight to pick up dinner for my family, the radio was on and i glanced at my youngest son. a totally normal and seemingly unremarkable moment, yet, for whatever reason, inspiration stirred my soul. at that very moment, my plans went off course as i scrambled for my camera, interrupted my son’s playtime and led him out to the sidewalk, all while song lyrics floated around my head.

pale blue colored eyes, present the sun.

those are the lyrics i heard as i glanced at my baby-boy’s pale blue eyes and entered into the sunlight. funny how inspiration shows up in such small moments.

little of this, little of that

to be specific, some iphone fun plus a little burst of happy to rev up this late spring weekend. enjoy. i hope you’re inspired to capture a little happy yourselves, with a lens or however you please.

my birthday, spent huddled with my loves and my feet up by the fire (which my family gave me for the birthday). next, chopped veggies…i actually find chopping veggies (and as an honest-to-god vegetarian, not a “french fry vegetarian”)…i chop A LOT. then, well i may not indulge often but that doesn’t mean i don’t let my sweet kiddos have a sweet treat from time to time and it certainly doesn’t mean i don’t adore these lovely little sweetheart cupcakes. finally, i just found this comical. it’s the floral display at target…totally empty from “bring your teacher flowers day” in our district.

these will be in rolling stone one day, when they're looking back on "the early years".

how does springtime taste…

…to you? to her, springtime most assuredly like strawberries. she could eat them all day, everyday and for her, a great time is an evening wagon ride with a bowl-full of strawberry yumminess.
