lately

lately, i’ve been enjoying the beauty of “clean eating”.

mocha and pancakes

that’s what my youngest son had been requesting for his 7th birthday for nearly a year. so, that’s exactly what he got. not just any old mocha and pancakes though, Liberty Market blueberry pancakes and mocha…top notch.

seriously, i’ve honestly never tasted a pancake so good. i only had one bite, but i made it count.

“that’s oooone cuppa joe”

seems like there might be an adjective missing here. hmmm. either way, he completely loved his birthday mocha from Liberty Market today.

lemon peel smoothie

you’ve gotta try it, i bet you’ll like it. in fact, i’m smitten to a point that i can’t stop thinking about it. it’s gloriously yummy. plus, it’s loaded with good stuff. all that fruit has great stuff packed inside and the lemon peel has some really crazy good stuff goin’ on. things like antiviral, antiseptic and even calming properties. so, good stuff when there’s a sneaky virus running wild through your family and you really have no interest in falling victim to it…such as myself. i’ve been tossing back two of these babies daily, after downing the juice of the lemons first thing in the morning, in order to stay healthy…the thought of missing trapeze tonight just makes me sad. my recipe goes a little somethin’ like this: (no reason you can’t change it up)  well, obviously it’s strawberries…about 3, blueberries…about 8 0r 9, lemon peel…i used half a lemon cuz mine are farm fresh HUGE lemons, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, water…about 6oz and ice. put it all in the blender.
blend until yummy, pour in a glass and top with a tropical straw…enjoy and stay healthy.

Yeah, but she doesn't juice the lemon, she puts the whole peel in. Sounds like it would be terribly bitter, ...

Looks really good and I am big fan of juicing and smoothies! All organic of course! hahaha Thanks for sharing!

if you want to make one for me, i won't fight it.

iphone-fun inspiration

i never want to pass up an opportunity to shoot, although sometimes  i don’t feel like lugging out the “big camera”. this is where my iphone comes in, it’s truly a glorious tool for capturing moments on the fly or when i just want the challenge of basically just using literally what i have in my hand, nothing fancy. these shots are from a little lunch date at Luci’s Healthy Marketplace that my husband and i shared with natty-like-a-cat yesterday. i hope you’ll be inspired to capture some great phone photography.

i touched on this topic in my most recent podcast as well. check back soon to give it a listen, you can find the link here.

farmers market fun

i’m off for a saturday visit to the farmer’s market, in hopes of bringing home yummy goodness such as these. i’m not sure if i’m more excited to eat all of my fresh goodies or to photograph them.

it’s just so pretty sometimes

snack-time, that is. couldn’t call myself a photographer if i didn’t photograph things that strike me with inspiration…at least most of the time.

love that you (we) find inspiration in the smallest things! :-)

two of my favorite things

i seriously love both of these things…as much as one soul could love food.  in fact, i look forward to the first like a giddy 4 year old little girl waiting for the ice-cream truck. naturally, i have to photograph them because i photograph everything i love. everything.

what is it? irish-style steel cut oats with toasted pecans and a light drizzling of agave nectar. mmm…healthy eating makes me happy and it’s nothing short of delicious. this is better than pretty much any sugary sweet confection i can think of.

this one’s slightly more of an indulgence, but so worth it from time to time. a double-shot cortadito. one perfect shot of espresso in each glass with a teeny bit of frothed milk with agave nectar rather than sugar. i’m pretty confident that i appear slightly off my rocker for my insistence on healthy food choices… since they don’t actually offer agave nectar as a sweetener at most places, i bring my own…in a medicine syringe, tucked away in my purse. i know, it does seem slightly overboard. trust me, it’s not. just go with it. raw agave nectar is totally natural, no funky chemicals and low glycemic…and wonderful. this beauty is from the liberty market’s e61 bar. they make ‘em top notch.
