here’s a hodge-podge sneaky peek at baby-palooza weekend that went down here at mmp, recently. it was sooo much squishy, sweet, wrinkly, cuddly fun.
that’s right! i’m looking for some “models” for specific shots I need to complete a new portfolio. the models needed for this casting call are as follows: newborns no more than 3 weeks old (10 days or less is preferable), pregnant mommies-to-be (yep, it’s ok if the newborns come from these mommies), at least one pregnant mommy-to-be with prominent tattoo/tattoos.

i’m also looking for models for a brand-new style of session that i’m going to be offering very soon…something I am so excited about. these sessions will focus on capturing your child/children doing exactly what they do best…playing. the models i need for these shoots are 2-4 children or sibling groups in a variety of ages that are willing to do some fun stuff and be photographed while doing it.

Details on the Casting Call sessions:
1) the session will be free of charge. prints will be available to purchase at regular rates.
2) image(s) will be used for my portfolio/advertising/marketing purposes.
3) the session will focus on capturing a specific shot(s).
Please contact Misty for information.
as soon as i walked into nathan and michal’s home sunday morning, i was giddy. they have fantastic style. their home is truly a photographers dream, at least mine anyway. lots of great, dramatic lighting, beautiful flooring, wall colors and decor. i honestly could have found little nooks and crannies all day long to shoot. so, i take it all in, then michal walks into the living room (she was still making herself fabulous when i arrived) and she announces that she’s not photogenic. i immediately knew she was wrong. i don’t know, maybe it’s that pregnancy glow or something but, at least yesterday, she was fantastically photogenic, as was nathan. i sincerely enjoyed getting to know these two just a bit yesterday, i loved how easy they were to chat with and just kind of hang out with. i have some pretty fabulous clients.
nathan is a drummer, so, including the drums was a must.

a plan, to get mr. miracle- maxi-pants- wild- thing- stinky-butt-max, home a little sooner. wanna hear it? hear it goes…so, i recently had an opportunity to sneak into mr. max’s nursery and grab a few shots. while doing so, i thought to myself, if only max could see this amazing room full of soft blankies, bright and cuddly toys, perfect books and adorable outfits. if he only knew what awaits him upon his homecoming, i’m certain he’ll will himself to get healthy and strong just a tad faster. i’m thinking my plan is fail-proof, so here it goes: Mighty Max, meet your new room!
what a grand entrance!

and as i mentioned previously, some super-adorable toddler fun action as well. a fellow photographer, randy coleman, from OKC came into town last weekend and called me up to see if i was interested in hanging out in tempe to shoot a maternity session with him. hmmm, pregnant belly, super-cute toddler, and tempe…that would be a yes, very interested. i had a fabulous time with this beautiful family, adam, gretchen and little teegan, capturing some fun moments at a very special time in their lives. adam and gretchen have such a sweet, laid-back approach to the way they parent teegan, it was so fun to watch the way they interact as a family. they’re going to do great with another little bundle in the family. miss teegan is absolutely bursting with energy, she ran and ran and ran with no regard to us crazy people sticking camera’s in her face. i loved it. i like to make sure that parents understand that at a certain age, usually something like 18 months to 2 1/2 years, the images are going to take on a very documentary-style look. this is perfect for me as it suits my photography style very well. i hear parents all the time saying how they need to wait on photography until their child can sit still, not so at all. i love to capture those real moments that reflect a child’s true personality, so, bring on the toddlers!

i’m so over-the-moon excited to be blogging this session. i’ve been looking forward to it for so long, long before little max was even on his way. claire and i discussed maternity photography during her “trash the dress” session well over a year ago. since that conversation i’ve been anticipating this session with, well, maybe too much excitement. as i’ve worked through these edits tonight (actually it’s 4:45am but i haven’t slept yet, so i’ll go with “tonight”), i’ve gone from rather loudly vocalizing my giddy excitement to wiping away streams of tears. not tears of sadness of course, but rather sentimentality. knowing so well what claire’s sweet round belly holds, all the hope, all the joy, all the trials, the giggles, smiles, tears and infinitely so much more, just makes me so warm and fuzzy and gooey that the tears are impossibly persistent. i feel so honored to have been able to document such a truly precious and fleeting time in claire, jordan and baby max’s life.
this image, to me, is nothing short of glorious. i’m so in love with it. so in love. it’s so quiet, so peaceful and real. tears…right now, seriously. i say it all the time, sentimentality drives this passion of mine.
