…it’s a secret, but, something super cool is coming to misty michelle photography. it’s not quite ready so i can’t say what it is yet, but in the spirit of excitement i just wanted to post about it and get everyone hyped up. all i can say is that it’s…fresh. curious?

and since it’s not right to post on a photoblog without an image, how about this one? yep, jordan, it’s yours. my level of sneakery(yes, it’s a word. i just made it up) is pretty amazing.

AND, today is a super day because once i, very glamorously, pick up my kiddos from school, i’m gonna post AGAIN! a rockin’ maternity shoot that i was so lucky to do this weekend. keep your eyes peeled for it.

I submitted the following to Smashing Magazine for publication. Every month they take a few top designs for use as Desktop Calendars, as well as a little inspiration! And what do you know, they liked it! I’m posting it here also as a free gift to you just for following my blog! …you’re way too good for that.  if life gives you lemons or limes, make mash-ups instead.  you’ll thank me for it.  grab yourself a beautiful lemon or lime, or heck, one of each. slice it up, put the slices right in your glass with a little sugar (about a teaspoon or two, you’ll figure out how sweet you like it) and mash it all together with a muddler.  top it with ice and some water, dump it all into a drink mixer and shake it like a polaroid picture.  finally, pour it all back in the glass and delight in it’s citrusy goodness. of course, you can garnish with all sorts of fun yumminess like cherries, orange slices, strawberries, mint leaves (my personal fave)… whatever makes you smile.  if it just so happens that you’re feeling feisty or have cause to celebrate (like you’ve made it to the end of the day with your sanity, or it’s tuesday, or your favorite show is on tonight) you can add a shot or two citrus vodka, my favorite is Skyy Citrus, this will turn your tasty libation into an absolutely indulgent heaven.

again, a photoblog without a photo is like a dog without fur, somehow just a little off.  no offense hairless dog-lovers, i know your puppies are beautiful too.

those of you who follow my blog regularly or know me personally, know, that without a doubt i’m positively enamoured with espresso. call it an addiction but that’s such an ugly connotation, i choose to call it love. i may love it, but until yesterday, i avoided making it myself. my husband happens to have some pretty fancy barista skills so i do get my fix daily, and by daily i do mean a couple of times per day, however, he does have to go to work. this leaves me cappuccino crippled when he’s not home…not any longer. yesterday i joined a fine group of espresso lovers like myself, at the E61 espresso bar inside liberty market, for some in-depth instruction on the in’s and out’s of espresso making.

seriously. seriously. seriously. i’m SO excited!!! see there, three exclamation marks, that proves it. my totally fabulous friend lissette, with funky bums, the t-shirt line for bad-bottom boys and funky-fab little babes, spent her saturday night chillin’ with NO DOUBT! that’s right, NO DOUBT, as in Gwen, the sometimes semi-nekked drummer,  Adrian, and the rest of the band! lissette is just that fabulous, she doesn’t just go to a concert, she rubs shoulders with the band. that, though, is not even close to the exciting part. what’s got me as giddy as an 8 year old at a jonas brothers concert? it’s  the fact that,  instead of shuffling her feet up to the autograph table, head hung low, like a shy and awkward 8th grader (totally would have been me.) she sauntered up to ms. stefani all hugs and “heys!”, proceeded to talk mom-talk with the pop princess herself and hand over a bag of funkybums shirts for kingston and zuma! no doubt! that girl’s got moxie! i would have been eaten alive by self-doubt, convincing myself that had i been in lissette’s shoes (something sexy, rad, and designer for sure), gwen would have pulled the shirts from the bag, then, upon first glance at my designs, thrown her head back, laughing wildly and pointing, as she turned on her heels and tossed my heart-felt gift into the trash for all to see. lissette, however, is of perfectly rational self-esteem, and rightfully so, remember, she’s fabulous. so, nerves did not get the best of her, instead, she proudly handed gwen the gift and of course,  ms. stefani LOVED them! seriously people, no doubt! isn’t that just crazy. wow. the deal? well, because hollywood is sure to be a buzz with bad bottom boys and funky-fab little babes sporting the funkybums logo now that the little princes of hollywood, kingston and zuma rossdale, are donning the designs, funkybums has decided to offer a smokin’ hot summer deal on all of the designs. i think she might be calling it the “holy-cow-gwen stefani-is-so-totally-awesome-and-i’m-taking-hollywood-by-storm-with-these-shirts-now-that-the-rossdale-boys-are -wearing -them sale!”,  i mean, maybe she is.

“mom, why is the bottom half of the bottle fuzzy?” asks my ever-inquisitive claudia.  i reply, “it’s bokeh baby.”  what’s bokeh?  it’s a relatively new term, from japan, used in photography, that translates basically to… blurred. it’s the blurry portion of an image obtained by using a wide aperture. and i adore it.
