…she’s got that part down, the super-awesome-cool part, the love of rock-and-roll and the bad-girl part for sure…now all we need are about 9990 more practice hours and we’ll have a master on our hands. seriously, these shots just make me happy when i see them, that’s worth an awful lot some days.
as soon as i walked into nathan and michal’s home sunday morning, i was giddy. they have fantastic style. their home is truly a photographers dream, at least mine anyway. lots of great, dramatic lighting, beautiful flooring, wall colors and decor. i honestly could have found little nooks and crannies all day long to shoot. so, i take it all in, then michal walks into the living room (she was still making herself fabulous when i arrived) and she announces that she’s not photogenic. i immediately knew she was wrong. i don’t know, maybe it’s that pregnancy glow or something but, at least yesterday, she was fantastically photogenic, as was nathan. i sincerely enjoyed getting to know these two just a bit yesterday, i loved how easy they were to chat with and just kind of hang out with. i have some pretty fabulous clients.
nathan is a drummer, so, including the drums was a must.

or at least you have at some point. well, take a look at this guy…he’s well on his way. he’s got some pretty rad air-guitar skills, hair like you know you wish you had and moves you’ve never even seen.

At least he's starting early. Great pics.
that’s right, i just said OH MY JONAS! (if you don’t have a pre-teen girl living in your home…that’s the jonas-obsessed version of OMG.) I do happen to have a pre-teen girl living in my home and she just so happens to have a pretty severe case of OJD…you guessed it, Obsessive Jonas Disorder. because this particular girl also happens to be freakin’ AMAZING, seriously, i know i’m biased but people, the girl is truly mind-blowing, i shelled out some pretty serious bucks to take her to a jonas brothers concert. we’re talking, in the same room, breathing the same air, the possibility that they might actually make eye-contact…for real! in all honesty, from the sincerest part of my heart, it’s the best $*!% i’ve spent in a long time. the brothers jonas are just the cutest things and put on a super crazy show but (for me) that had little to do with the amazing night. i can’t even sit here and type this without getting weepy, it was the most precious time i think i’ve ever spent with my girl in her nearly 9 years, at least since her newborn days. just the two of us, totally livin’ it up, screaming, dancing, singing…just being such girls…together…mom and daughter. my heart almost exploded with happiness, no joke. it was fun. good, old-fashioned fun. the kind we don’t experience much of as grow-ups. i’m pretty certain i looked pretty ridiculous acting like such a kid, i couldn’t care one bit less…it’s my job to teach her how to live in the moment, how to dance and sing with total abandon. beside myself and my little groupie, there was a sweet little girl whose dad took one for the team and brought his baby girl, (big props to dad for that one). i’ve been that little girl…and my dad’s been the one and only grown man hangin’ at a boy band concert for me. as sweet as it was, i felt a little sad for the little girl, she and dad just sat in their seats nearly the whole time, casually throwing their hands together in a clap from time to time. i knew she wanted to jump up and let loose but didn’t quite feel comfortable doing so. that was soooo me as a kid…well, not anymore and no way my girls are miss out on experiencing things to the fullest because they’re self-conscious. so, i took the lead and made certain that she knew we were there for the time of her life, she was completely receptive.
she’s so the rockstar. we did it up, not only did i make sure she was educated in proper concert behavior but also in proper concert fashion. she was lookin’ fierce. i’m thrilled to the core that i handed the camera over to my husband…even if we were sitting in the back of our van, outside the arena for these shots, i’ll cherish them FOREVER. speaking of, that’s as far as my “big” camera made it…apparently, in place of the lens a person could instead place a gun or bomb, so , it was a no-go.

i thought everyone could use a little more fabulous in their day so i’m blogging an extra long post of stephen & m’lea’s “trash the dress” session. note: we in no way actually trashed m’lea’s gown so, for you fabulous girls out there thinking of a doing a trash the dress session but don’t want to ruin your dress…no worries. so, back to stephen and m’lea, what can i say about them? oh i don’t know, how about they’re totally smokin HOT! just look at those two. of course, they’re over-flowing with plenty of other choice qualities as well. qualities such as stephen being an extraordinary musicisian and m’lea a spectacular designer, both having an amazing heart filled with a love for sharing their faith as well as a great appreciation for laughter and sense of humor, are just the tip of the iceburg.

seriously. seriously. seriously. i’m SO excited!!! see there, three exclamation marks, that proves it. my totally fabulous friend lissette, with funky bums, the t-shirt line for bad-bottom boys and funky-fab little babes, spent her saturday night chillin’ with NO DOUBT! that’s right, NO DOUBT, as in Gwen, the sometimes semi-nekked drummer, Adrian, and the rest of the band! lissette is just that fabulous, she doesn’t just go to a concert, she rubs shoulders with the band. that, though, is not even close to the exciting part. what’s got me as giddy as an 8 year old at a jonas brothers concert? it’s the fact that, instead of shuffling her feet up to the autograph table, head hung low, like a shy and awkward 8th grader (totally would have been me.) she sauntered up to ms. stefani all hugs and “heys!”, proceeded to talk mom-talk with the pop princess herself and hand over a bag of funkybums shirts for kingston and zuma! no doubt! that girl’s got moxie! i would have been eaten alive by self-doubt, convincing myself that had i been in lissette’s shoes (something sexy, rad, and designer for sure), gwen would have pulled the shirts from the bag, then, upon first glance at my designs, thrown her head back, laughing wildly and pointing, as she turned on her heels and tossed my heart-felt gift into the trash for all to see. lissette, however, is of perfectly rational self-esteem, and rightfully so, remember, she’s fabulous. so, nerves did not get the best of her, instead, she proudly handed gwen the gift and of course, ms. stefani LOVED them! seriously people, no doubt! isn’t that just crazy. wow. the deal? well, because hollywood is sure to be a buzz with bad bottom boys and funky-fab little babes sporting the funkybums logo now that the little princes of hollywood, kingston and zuma rossdale, are donning the designs, funkybums has decided to offer a smokin’ hot summer deal on all of the designs. i think she might be calling it the “holy-cow-gwen stefani-is-so-totally-awesome-and-i’m-taking-hollywood-by-storm-with-these-shirts-now-that-the-rossdale-boys-are -wearing -them sale!”, i mean, maybe she is.

so, head on over to the funky bums website and help your little funky boys and babes get their fierce fashion on for only 18 bucks a shirt and for your funky babes, inquire about an expertly coordinated Bella Bella flower clip to round out your little diva’s fashion statement.
just in case you doubted me…here’s the proof! lissette is the hot brunette in the yellow jacket, and no, unfortunately i wasn’t behind the camera for this shot. lissette, we need to talk about that.
