here’s wishing everyone a happy friday! i hope it’s full of bright and colorful fun times.
my husband really helped me to put this into perspective recently, when he reminded me that we have roughly 200 friday nights left with our oldest. well, until he turns 16 that is. since we all know that once a kid gets wheels…hanging with mom, dad and the rest of the fam is so much less cool than when you really have no other choice. of course, i hope with all my heart that he’ll still think we’re cool enough to hang out with from time to time…but, either way with that thought in mind, i hope i can put it all in perspective and try harder to enjoy our friday nights together before he’s off and running.
and seriously, i couldn’t help but throw in one more of this sunshiny kid. gabe and sunshine just go together.
…stricken by inspiration. some moments, it just comes. i was walking through the doorway and into the early evening sunlight to pick up dinner for my family, the radio was on and i glanced at my youngest son. a totally normal and seemingly unremarkable moment, yet, for whatever reason, inspiration stirred my soul. at that very moment, my plans went off course as i scrambled for my camera, interrupted my son’s playtime and led him out to the sidewalk, all while song lyrics floated around my head.
pale blue colored eyes, present the sun.
those are the lyrics i heard as i glanced at my baby-boy’s pale blue eyes and entered into the sunlight. funny how inspiration shows up in such small moments.
to be specific, some iphone fun plus a little burst of happy to rev up this late spring weekend. enjoy. i hope you’re inspired to capture a little happy yourselves, with a lens or however you please.
my birthday, spent huddled with my loves and my feet up by the fire (which my family gave me for the birthday). next, chopped veggies…i actually find chopping veggies (and as an honest-to-god vegetarian, not a “french fry vegetarian”)…i chop A LOT. then, well i may not indulge often but that doesn’t mean i don’t let my sweet kiddos have a sweet treat from time to time and it certainly doesn’t mean i don’t adore these lovely little sweetheart cupcakes. finally, i just found this comical. it’s the floral display at target…totally empty from “bring your teacher flowers day” in our district.
…to you? to her, springtime most assuredly like strawberries. she could eat them all day, everyday and for her, a great time is an evening wagon ride with a bowl-full of strawberry yumminess.

absolutely precious!
my mother’s day gift had nothing to do with flowers, brunch, jewelry or anything that cost even one cent. in fact, my gifts were spending nearly three hours with my oldest daughter, shopping for produce and lounging at the bookstore, looking through magazines as well as a little bit of zero-pressure, totally recreational and creative photography. it did my soul good.
the creativity displayed by the fine folks at jones soda sparked a bit of inspiration.

it’s been a flowery kind of week. putting it all together for one fantastic flower frenzied post seemed like a nice idea. for more reasons than one. it appears that my blogging has become somewhat sluggish as of late. whether it’s the fact that time just isn’t making itself available to me, that words are also being rather elusive, or maybe i’m just too pre-occupied smelling the roses…i’m not entirely sure. either way, there are dozens of images that i’d love to share with my blog-reading friends and i hope this “flowery” explanation as to why i’ve not been on top of that lately is a nice make-up for being a bit lackadaisical.
birthday flowers. birthday flowers are possibly the best flowers.

…she’s got that part down, the super-awesome-cool part, the love of rock-and-roll and the bad-girl part for sure…now all we need are about 9990 more practice hours and we’ll have a master on our hands. seriously, these shots just make me happy when i see them, that’s worth an awful lot some days.

these will be in rolling stone one day, when they're looking back on "the early years".
